Computer Science 1: Let's Talk About Math

Say hello to ComSci and Math's children namely Function and Formula. Well, no surprise if Science and Math interact.
An example using the formula.

Let me introduce Formula. It is an expression which calculates the value of a cell. It always start with an equal sign. Some of the operators used are + (addition), - (subtraction), * (multiplication) and / (division).

An example using Function.

While Fuction is better known for being a predefined formula. But be careful when using this because one wrong type will lead to an error- the one with the #.

Examples of Error
P.S. Don't be mistaken by the errors. They're not hashtags! ^_^v

Computer Science 1: Getting to Know...

This quarter, we focused on Microsoft Excel. We had an introduction about this application and learned the basics. Sir Tom taught us its functions, its parts and some shortcuts to make tasks easier. For me, Excel is like a person you know but you never had a chance to talk to. You're not even friends, just plain acquaintances. Learning Excel is like simply knowing that person:))
Yeah, we had Excel in 6th grade but we only tackled about its parts. Nothing more. This time, we've got a deeper meaning of it, a clear understanding of that person.
After having an intro and knowing the basics, well, it's time to see if we have already learned. We had an activity and a quiz. Submitting the activity 42 minutes and 16 seconds earlier and getting a score of 8 out of 10 items aren't bad, are they?

My Computer Science Experiences 2.0: The End.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed Computer Science1 during our 2nd Quarter. I was introduced to a whole new world. I learned new things. Powepoint wasn't new to me but, honestly, it was my first time to create a presentation. 2nd Quarter had finally ended. I am now expecting for more enjoying and learning experiences in ComSci1 for the next quarters.

My Computer Science Experiences 2.0: Powerpoint Presentation

We had another practical exam. Our topic was about inspiring a person. Then, we presented that in front of the class. I am one of the last students who presented. I enjoyed watching and listening to my classmates' presentations.
Here's a sneak peek on mine:

We spent 2 hours for the presentation of the last reporters. Sir Tom presented his own using Prezi. We were really inspired by him and his presentation. He even let us watched 2 inspirational videos. We left the computer room really inspired.
Here is the link of the first video entitled, Kindness Boomerang:

My Computer Science Experiences 2.0: Good Presentation

Our next and last topic was about creating a good presentation using softwares or applications. We were taught how to make our presentations look good and how to present it properly. I learn the dos and dont's.  I've learned much from our discussion. We had an exercise about this with the topic "My Best Interest".
Here are some of the slides in my presentation:

My Computer Science Experiences 2.0: A Long Test and A Practical Exam

After finishing those exercises in HTML, we had a Long Test about the previous lessons and a Practical Exam.
I was so happy when I only got two mistakes in our long test. 5 days after that, I submitted for the Practical Exam which I worked on for 3 days. Since only the basics were taught to us, I find it easy. Honestly, I enjoyed learning HTML. It was new, and that's what makes it more exciting.

My Computer Science Experiences 2.0: More About HTML

Since HTML was new to us, it had to be discussed little by little, step by step. A software was also introduced- Sublime. We use this to create HTMLs. Notepad can also be used but I prefer Sublime more.
An introduction to the topic was given to us. Then, we were taught how to change the format, fonts, and colors, to put images and links and create tables. We have to be very careful in typing the punctuations. One mistake will not make any difference to the web page. To lessen the typing, the use of Cascading Style Sheet or CSS was introduced. It reduces our work by centralizing commands. It is very useful.
To help us have further knowledge about HTML, our teacher showed us some cool web pages. He demonstrated examples of HTML very well that leads us to have better understanding of the topic.
